ESM Cohorts

The Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability Management (ESM) program is designed around a cohort model that fosters collaboration, leadership, and rich discussion among a diverse group of students. Our unique modular format creates a dynamic and focused learning environment, allowing you to engage deeply with your peers and faculty throughout the 10-month experience. The small class size ensures you’ll learn not only from expert professors but also from one another—building meaningful connections that last well beyond graduation.

Structure for All Types of Students

The ESM program is designed for students from a wide range of backgrounds, from recent graduates to professionals seeking to advance or pivot in their careers. During Modules 1-4, students attend classes all day, in-person 2-3 days of the week, leaving the remaining days open for part-time work, internships, or other professional opportunities.

The Alumni Experience

At Georgetown McDonough, we believe that leaders never stop learning. This philosophy shapes our commitment to lifelong engagement, supporting the ongoing professional and personal growth of our students and alumni.

Graduates of the ESM program have the opportunity to continue expanding their business knowledge and skills well beyond graduation. Through lifelong engagement, alumni can participate in educational offerings from the Graduate and Executive Degree Programs at the McDonough School of Business, the Earth Commons, and the College of Arts and Sciences—reconnecting with faculty, collaborating with peers, and growing their professional networks across programs and cohorts.
