Amy grew up in New England; calling the suburbs of Massachusetts, the mountains of Vermont, and the coast of Maine home. She has a bachelors of science in environmental studies, with a self-designed concentration in education and ecology from the University of Vermont. Amy also holds a graduate certificate in environmental policy and international development from the Harvard Extension School, which was completed remotely while living in Santiago, Chile in early 2023. Prior to living in Chile, Amy was an environmental educator teaching students of all ages how to challenge themselves and each other, work as a team, and thrive in wilderness environments. She also has experience in the residential renewable energy sector and small-business management. She seeks to combine these skills and experiences with the MS-ESM degree by working in a field that equitably honors people, planet, and profit.
