Application Requirements

The M.S. in Environment and Sustainability Management (MS-ESM) Admissions Committee takes a holistic approach, meaning we consider all parts of your application when making an admissions decision. Therefore, it is necessary to submit all application components so the Admissions Committee can make an informed decision about your application.

Tuition Information

The MS-ESM program tuition fee for the 2025-2026 academic year is $79,560.* Tuition fees exclude individual healthcare or health insurance premiums, books and supplies, student fees, room and board, visas, and incidental expenses.

*Based on 30 required credits at a rate of $2,652 per credit, as determined by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for the 2025-2026 academic year. More detailed information about tuition and fees can be found on the Student Accounts website.

Financial Aid

Georgetown University has resources to help students identify funding options for their education. U.S. citizens and permanent residents should contact the Office of Student Financial Services for information on financing. Students may utilize federally-funded programs, external scholarships, and fellowship opportunities to supplement the cost of their education.

The Care for Common Home Scholarship

Rooted in the Jesuit principle of care for the Earth and those impacted by environmental degradation, this scholarship is for students who demonstrate a commitment to sustainable environmental practices and a desire to lead by example in science-based or organization-focused protection of the planet for future generations. This scholarship recognizes your potential to strengthen Georgetown University and the ESM Program’s efforts to bring the intellectual and institutional resources of our community to advance environmental sustainability and environmental justice through our students.

The Cura Personalis Leadership Scholarship

Reflecting the Jesuit ideal of “care for the whole person as well as respect and responsibility for each other,” this scholarship recognizes students who embody the value of striving for excellence and commitment to making a meaningful impact through environmental action with inclusivity, while emphasizing the interconnectedness of humanity and nature. This scholarship recognizes the potential of individuals to contribute significantly to our program, to the growth and well-being of our cohort culture, as well as the world around us.

The Global Impact Scholarship

This scholarship honors students who demonstrate a vision for large-scale environmental change and a strong desire to address global sustainability challenges through innovative, cross-cultural solutions for significant positive impact. This scholarship is awarded to individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to understanding and engaging with global environmental issues. Applicants showcase their global mindset by having actively engaged in bridging cultural differences and possess a keen interest in navigating the cross-cultural challenges of environmental work and who will add a unique perspective to our diverse cohort.

The Magis Innovation Scholarship

Inspired by the Jesuit call to “do more,” this scholarship supports students whose creative and forward-thinking approaches to our environment and sustainability promise to push boundaries and inspire others to reach new heights of environmental progress. This scholarship is awarded to individuals who embody the Jesuit value of striving for excellence through an outstanding academic record and a commitment to continuous growth. This scholarship is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional intellectual achievement, ambition, and a dedication to making a meaningful environmental impact through innovation and/or an entrepreneurial mindset.

The Service to Society Scholarship

In line with Georgetown’s commitment to service, this scholarship supports students who exemplify the Jesuit value of service by dedicating themselves to using their education to improving the lives of others through meaningful contributions to underserved communities as well as to advocate for policies that promote environmental justice. This scholarship is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community impact, social responsibility, and uplifting those in need through their professional and personal endeavors as well as possess the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the MS-ESM cohort community and the greater Georgetown community.
